As a local, not-for-profit health fund, we’re dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our local community. Including partnering with local charity Little Wings to improve accessibility to healthcare for some of our region’s most vulnerable.
Who are Little Wings?
Little Wings are a charity organisation consisting of volunteer pilots and drivers who provide free air and ground transport to seriously ill children living in regional and remote NSW. This enables children to access lifesaving healthcare at locations such as John Hunter Hospital. The work they do is life-changing to Australian families, minimising the physical, emotional and financial strain of receiving critical medical treatment for children.

At Hunter Health Insurance, we are passionate about improving access to healthcare within our region.
We are proud to support the funding for ten flights a year to help children living in rural or regional NSW access lifesaving healthcare.
Many of the children supported by Little Wings are living with life-threatening conditions, with more than 50% battling some form of cancer. Little Wings assists children as young as newborns, and their impact on the lives of these children and their families is profound.

As a not-for-profit and registered charity, all donations made to Little Wings over the value of $2 are tax-deductible.
*For each Hunter Health Insurance member who donates, we will match the total value of the donation up to $110.
Providing immunisations to children in regional NSW
In towns across regional and remote NSW, families are facing dangerously long wait times, limited access to doctors, and a growing health crisis that threatens the wellbeing of thousands of children. With fewer medical professionals servicing rural areas, the gap in care continues to widen.
Hunter Health Insurance are proud to sponsor the the Medical Wings program, through which Little Wings are able to deliver clinics in partnership with local hospitals, schools, Aboriginal Medical Centres, primary health clinics and GP clinics, and Immigration Centres, ensuring that children and families can access medical care.
Leading this vital work, is Nichole Callan, the Medical Wings Manager. With over 30 years of nursing experience and a remarkable dedication to rural health, Nichole is a powerful advocate for families in the bush.
Together, we are fighting to bridge the healthcare divide, bring urgent support to vulnerable children, and ensure no family is left behind, no matter their postcode.
