Kieser health care programs are designed to help you live healthier for longer, reduce pain or discomfort and even delay or prevent surgical intervention.
Benefits of the Kieser Care Programs
No out-of-pocket costs
If you are a likely candidate for knee, hip or spinal surgery within the next three years as a result of your condition, and you hold an eligible level of HHI cover (with relevant waiting periods served), you may be eligible for the Kieser Care Programs with no out-of-pocket cost.
Delay or Prevent Surgery
Up to 84% of patients may be able to significantly delay or even avoid surgery with appropriate rehabilitation, including physiotherapy and exercise.
Reduce Pain and Discomfort
The Kieser programs are evidence-based programs curated specially for you by an experienced physiotherapist. With a focus on exercise and education to reduce pain and other symptoms, and improve function and the ability to complete everyday activities.

As part of your program, the expert team at Kieser will provide you with foundational education and training along with a specialised long-term plan to help self-manage your condition.
Knee and Hip Care Programs
Designed to prevent or delay knee or hip joint replacement surgery, reduce pain and other symptoms you may be experiencing. The Kieser 14-week Knee and Hip care plan includes:
An initial assessment and 6 one-on-one treatment and supervised exercise sessions with a physiotherapist.
1:1 exercise sessions with an Exercise Physiologist or Exercise Scientist.
A physiotherapist-designed, independent strengthening program on Kieser equipment, supervised by Exercise Scientists
Education on how to manage and live with Osteoarthritis.
Use of the Kieser Konnect app.
Objective assessments to help measure your improvement.
Spinal Care Programs
Designed to prevent or delay spinal surgery, reduce pain and other symptoms you may be experiencing. The Kieser 18-week spinal care plan includes:
An initial assessment, and 13 one-on-one treatment and supervised exercise sessions with a physiotherapist.
12 sessions on the Kieser lumbar extension strengthening machine
Progression to 1:1 exercise sessions with an exercise physiologist or exercise scientist
A physiotherapist-designed, independent strengthening program on Kieser equipment, supervised by exercise scientists.
Use of the Kieser Konnect app.
Education program on how to manage and live with your lower back condition.
Eligibility Criteria
If your GP considers that you may be a likely candidate for knee, hip or spinal surgery within the next three years as a result of your condition, and you hold an eligible level of HHI cover, you may be eligible to be referred to the Kieser care programs with no out-of-pocket cost.
How can I access the program with no out-of-pocket cost?
You may be eligible to claim the full cost of the Kieser care program if you:
Are impacted by either hip or knee osteoarthritis or a condition of the lumbar spine
Require surgery within the next 3 years and have been referred by your treating medical practitioner
Hold eligible private health cover and have served the 2 month waiting period
What level of health cover do I need to be eligible?
Hunter Health Insurance members who hold a current hospital policy along with any of our open extras policies (listed below), may claim the full cost of the Kieser care program*.
