A Heartfelt Visit: the Hunter Health Insurance team visits the Little Wings hangar
Last week, the Hunter Health Insurance team had the pleasure of visiting our friends at Little Wings, in a truly inspiring experience. Our team had the opportunity learn about the Little Wings’ mission, the unique ways they are making a difference in our community, and better understand the challenges they face along the way.
Little Wings is a remarkable charity organisation with a team consisting of volunteer pilots and drivers who provide free air and ground transport to seriously ill children living in regional and remote NSW. This enables these children to access lifesaving healthcare at locations such as John Hunter Hospital. The work they do is life-changing to Australian families, minimising the physical, emotional and financial strain of receiving critical medical treatment for children.
Our visit began with a warm welcome from the team at Little Wings. They guided us through their operations, showcasing the profound impact of their work. From heartwarming success stories to behind-the-scenes operations, our team was able to experience firsthand the dedication and passion that fuel their efforts.
As a non-government entity, most of what Little Wings is able to achieve is through the generous donations from the community, and partners such as Hunter Health Insurance. Their fleet of pilots and drivers are all volunteers who regularly dedicate their time and experience to helping the phenomenal missions of Little Wings.
Our support for Little Wings is an integral part of our commitment to community well-being. Through our partnership, we help fund a portion of their vital missions, enabling them to continue their essential work. We are also so proud to see our wonderful team members getting directly involved to support this organisation through fundraising events and packing care kits for the families. Seeing the direct impact of our support reinforces the importance of our collaboration.
Just like health insurance, Little Wings provide a service that we all hope never to need but are thankful it exists if we do. In addition to HHI directly funding some of the Little Wings air missions, we will also match every HHI member donation of $110, dollar for dollar to support the Little Wings ground missions.
